The Department of Economics at the University of Cagliari and the Department of Economics, Management and Quantitative Methods of the University of Milan jointly organize the Sardinia Empirical Trade Conference which will take place in Cagliari, Italy. This is a sister conference to EIIT, EITI, LETC, and RMET. Economists specializing in empirical international economics will present their latest research at this meeting. These conferences are offered under the rubric of the Forum for Research on Empirical International Trade (www.FREIT.org).

The conference is open to other attendees whose papers are not on the program. There is no entry fee, but space is limited and will be on a first-come, first-serve basis for those not on the program. Please let us know if you will be attending and if you would be willing to serve as a discussant.

Format:

The conference will begin in the morning on Thursday and will continue through mid day on Saturday. The program will include a total of 15 papers, with one hour per paper devoted to presentation, discussant remarks, and open discussion. The usual allocation of time is 40 minutes for the presentation, 10 minutes for the discussant, and 10 minutes for open discussion.

  • All meals will be covered by the conference sponsors (lunches and dinners).

Special invitation to graduate students:

We have a special competition for graduate student participants from the EU. We will pay up to €500 in expenses for a graduate student to present their paper. The graduate student papers not selected will be put in with the general submissions for further consideration.
